I am Emma, I'm 22 years old and I live in Solihull, near Birmingham. I'm a planning graduate and recently completed a Masters in Urban Design at Oxford Brookes University.
This blog was initially set up to write about the different types of photography which has inspired me and my work. However I know as time passes by, this will end up being an outlet to talk about other things which I love, such as music, clothing, performance art, architecture/urban design work and life in general.
I think I've always secretly had a love for photography, especially images which can change you're whole perception of life. It's always a great way to portray certain ways of life or scenarios which seems only ever possible in dreams and in the movies. I guess I never experimented enough with photography before, because I simply didn't know how to. But last year my boyfriend Chris introduced me to photography and taught me how to use his DSLR camera. I found myself wanting to use his camera so much, that I decided to buy myself one. Chris has really opened my eyes to this new world, and has taken me to all sorts of places, teaching me all these different techniques and really encouraged me to take as many photos as possible.
So far, most of my photography has been based on travel, but I really want to be more creative, especially when it comes to subject matters, lighting, techniques and editing. So I've recently set up a Flickr page to explore the world of photography further.
My camera is a Sony Alpha 330. I use the 55-70mm kit lens, but mostly use my 50mm/f1.8 lens.
Feel free to leave me any comments or messages, especially of works which would be great inspiration. I'd love to hear about other people's work and why they got into photography and also I appreciate all types of feedback, both good and bad.
